Free virtual staging — furnish empty rooms from one photo
You're staging a vacant listing and don't want to pay for furniture rental or a $16–40-per-photo editing service. Upload a photo of the empty room, pick a style, and Roomvana's AI furnishes it in about 30 seconds — walls, windows and floors left exactly as they are. Try it free: play with the example rooms without signing up, or create a free account (one click with Google) for 2 free staged photos of your own room, no credit card. Free renders are watermarked and Basic quality; a $5.99 pack of 10 credits removes the watermark, unlocks HD and adds the commercial license you need for MLS photos — and credits never expire.

How to stage your room with AI
- 1
Upload a photo of the empty room
Take or upload a clear photo of the vacant room — a straight-on shot in daylight that shows the floor and as much of the walls and windows as possible stages best. No account needed to try it on our example rooms first.
- 2
Pick the room type and a staging style
Choose the room (living room, bedroom, dining room and more) so the AI furnishes it sensibly, then pick a look that fits the home and the buyers — clean modern, coastal, farmhouse, Scandinavian or a warmer traditional feel.
- 3
Generate the staged room in ~30 seconds
Roomvana furnishes your exact room — adding seating, rugs, lighting, art and decor — in about 30 seconds, keeping the walls, windows and floors untouched. Your first 2 staged photos are free.
- 4
Download or add it to your listing
Slide between empty and staged and download your favorite. Free renders are watermarked; buy a credit pack to remove the watermark, get HD and the commercial license, then add the staged photos to your listing (labeled as virtually staged).

Frequently asked questions
Is virtual staging really free here?+
Yes — with real limits, and we'd rather be upfront about them. You can play with the tool on our example rooms without signing up. Create a free account (one click with Google) and you get 2 free staged photos of your own empty room, no credit card asked. Those free renders carry a small watermark and come out at Basic quality. To take the watermark off and get HD, you buy a credit pack — starting at $5.99 for 10 credits, which never expire.
How many free photos do I get, and do they have a watermark?+
Two. Every new account gets 2 free staging designs to try on your own rooms. They're watermarked and rendered at Basic quality — fine for testing a look or showing a colleague, not for a live listing. Any purchase removes the watermark and unlocks HD; the smallest pack is $5.99 for 10 credits.
Can I put the free, watermarked photo straight on the MLS?+
We don't recommend it. The free renders carry a Roomvana watermark, are Basic quality, and the free tier doesn't include a commercial-use license. For a real MLS or listing-site upload you want a clean, HD, license-cleared image — that's the honest reason the watermark-free version is paid. A $5.99 pack of 10 credits covers it.
Do I have to label a virtually staged photo?+
Yes, as a rule of thumb. Most MLSs and local real-estate guidelines require virtually staged or digitally altered photos to be clearly marked — usually a "virtually staged" caption on the image. Label every staged shot, and never use staging to hide a defect or misrepresent the home. Rules vary by MLS and state, so check yours.
How is this different from a $16–40-per-photo virtual staging service?+
Those services have a person do the editing by hand, so you pay roughly $16–40 per photo and wait 24–48 hours per batch. Here the AI does it in about 30 seconds, and a paid credit works out to around $0.60 per photo. The trade-off: a human editor can take fiddly custom requests, while the AI is fast and cheap and you just re-run it yourself if the first result isn't quite right.
How fast is it?+
About 30 seconds per photo. Upload an empty room, pick a room type and style, and you get a furnished before/after you can slide between. There's no overnight turnaround — you can stage a whole listing in one sitting.
Can any type of room be staged?+
Most interior rooms — living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, home offices and more. Choose the room type so the AI furnishes it sensibly (a bed for a bedroom, a sofa and rug for a living room). Very small, oddly shaped or cluttered rooms can be hit or miss, so try a second angle if the first render looks off.
Will the furniture look the same across photos of the same room from different angles?+
No — worth knowing up front. Each photo is generated on its own, so the AI may pick a different sofa or layout for a second angle of the same room. For a listing, either stage one strong hero shot per room, or choose angles where a slight furniture change won't be obvious. There's no cross-photo memory that locks the furniture to match between shots.
My room already has old furniture — can I still use this?+
Yes, three ways. If the room is furnished and you want a fresh look, use redesign mode to swap the existing furniture for a new style. If you want the old furniture gone entirely — say, before staging a lived-in listing — use Remove furniture mode to empty the room first, then stage the clean photo. And if the room is already empty, use staging mode (this page) to add furniture from scratch.
How should I shoot the photo?+
Empty room, straight-on, shot in daylight with the lights on. Hold the camera level, capture the floor and as much of the walls and windows as you can, and clear out boxes, ladders and clutter first. The cleaner and emptier the room, the more naturally the AI places the furniture.
Is it software I have to download?+
No — it runs in your browser, so there's nothing to install on a Mac, PC or phone. When people search "free virtual staging software" they usually just want a tool that stages a photo without paying upfront; here you upload, stage and download right on the site.
What do I get on a paid credit pack?+
Any purchase removes the watermark and unlocks HD renders plus a commercial-use license, so the photos are cleared for MLS and listing sites. Packs start at $5.99 for 10 credits and scale up from there. Credits never expire — buy a small pack for one listing, or a bigger one if you stage regularly.
What happens when my free designs or credits run out?+
Nothing gets deleted — your past designs stay in your gallery. You just can't generate a new one until you buy a credit pack. The smallest is $5.99 for 10 credits, and since credits never expire there's no monthly commitment or subscription to cancel.
What happens to the photos I upload?+
They stay private and are never used to train AI models. We store them only so you can revisit your staged designs, and you can delete them any time from your gallery or by deleting your account.
